The Impact

Impact addresses how the project will affect the stakeholders (e.g. students, the local community, etc.) and their needs.

For our legacy project, the impact occurs on three levels: individual students, the Southern Leaders Coaching Program, and the Georgia Southern University community as a whole. It is dependent upon student's taking the opportunity to learn about themselves, their individual impacts, as well as the student's around them. The opportunity of self-reflection and education is instrumental to the progression of knowledge across the community.

Our Goal

We want to increase the level of competency and self-awareness participants in the Coaching Program have regarding diversity education. This notion goes beyond the Coaching Program too as all Southern Leaders, not just those in the Coaching Program, are involved in various parts of Georgia Southern University's campus; By implementing this module, the information they learn can be shared with students outside of Southern Leaders as well.

Our Mission

Our Vision

We envision a comparatively higher level of competency in Southern Leaders by having them better understanding who their peers are as well as where they may come from individually. From our own education, we know that change starts with the self, so we hope that participants will realize that who they are within society in addition to their personal behavior has an impact on and that they can use that to create positive change.

By having honest conversations with peers, discussing the demographic survey, and engaging in a Privilege Walk, students will both hear and see how they may differ. Students should embrace their vulnerabilities in these hard conversations, and embrace others to create a truly unified community at Georgia Southern University.
